to wrap things up for january (already!), i bought some movies that i’ve been wanting. now, we don’t do movies at the theaters and we rent [movies] once every couple a months so i tell myself it’s okay to spend a bit when i do add to my collection.
here’s a crackdown of my shopping carts today:
from yesasia.com:
1) a chinese odyssey (restored & remastered edition) [read the awesome review here!]

include part 1 & 2, photobook, and special features
2) royal tramp 3 disc edition (remastered)

include part 1 & 2 and bonus features disc
when we bought our plasma at best buy, i signed up for their rewards program so i got $15 in rewards certificate back. i wasn’t sure what i was going to buy until i saw these (and the light!):
1) police story 1 – special collector’s edition

restored and comes with bonus features
2) police story 2 - special collector’s edition

restored and with special features
the policy story duo ended up costing me all of $9.34! what a deal!
you can say i’m more likely to rewatch movies from the 80′s and 90′s than the new movies that are popping out left and right now (except for donnie’s). and who doesn’t enjoy stephen chow and jackie chan’s movies? they are what hong kong movies are all about! all these are totally must see! i can’t wait to check out the special features!
next to add to my collection? donnie’s seven swords, jackie’s project a 2, amour of god 1 & 2, crime story, the canton godfather (aka miracles), yuen biao’s on the run, shanghai shanghai, and hero.

i’ve been thinking about doing a body detoxification. then i stumbled upon the lemonade diet cd and its companion book lose weight, have more energy, and be happier in 10 days. i thought what the heck? beside i want to know more about this body cleansing. so i bought these. i cannot wait to read it. the audio cd is fore james’ benefit since he doesn’t want to read the book.

in support of breast cancer month, i order this shape pilates: makeover your abs, butt, and thighs fast!. it just came out and it’ll be the first time i bought something that shape produced. and hey, i want to try the resistance band workout.
i also got shape bikini body camp – transforming workout (i need more cardio workouts) and denise austin: blast away the pounds, indoor walk. what can i say? i’m a fan of her even though some might find her too chatty, to the point of being annoying.

i bought these through deepdiscount.com because they are cheaper than amazon even with the $5.95 shipping. it just shipped today from iowa and it’s already in town. talk about fast!
as for my ecover dishwashing tablets, i got it from amazon for less than $4 a box. better than frontier. also bought the girls nature’s gate baby shampoo and wash and canus goat’s milk bar soap for the showers. with super saver, amazon takes forever to ship but oh well.

these products are so coming out of the “household” funds.

i went and saw rush hour 3 this evening and as with rush hour 1 and 2, there were lotsa laughs. they are a great duo.
after rush hour 1 and 2, i didn’t go watch the movie for its story line or plots, i went to see jackie chan and chris tucker because they are funny. and because i want to see some awesome stunts from jackie and just plain martial arts (sorta) without loads of cgi. you don’t get much of these anymore nowadays. hey, what can i say? i love martial arts in movies…there are exceptions but usually i love them.
no spoilers here but they (jackie and chris) delivered on the laughs and actions. chris was pretty good himself. as always jackie is impressive with his stunts. and he’s in (or approaching) his 50′s. i did wish jackie’s kung fu scene(s) were longer but oh well i guess i can always rewatch “dragons forever”.
relax and enjoy this movie the way it’s meant to be – funny and entertaining – and you won’t be disappointed. if you’re into something more serious and has a lot of depths, this won’t work. i’m simple-minded so these kind of movies work for me.
btw, one of the new movie previews with clive owen and monica belluci ( i think ) reminded me of chow yun fat in “hard boiled”, or was it “a better tomorrow”? it’s the scene where clive was carrying a baby in a building and shooting his enemies ( i assumed).

last night we went to blockbuster for movies.
james and i have the rewards program so we ended up renting mario party 8 for wii and getting jackie chan’s “thunderbolt” movie for free. we bought 4 pre-viewed dvds too – little me, american pie naked mile, mi3, and superman returns. it was 4 for $20 so it wasn’t bad.
the thing is that we have the rewards where you can rent one and get one free but we rarely go there. we went this time because my sister is with us and wants to watch a movie, otherwise …

back to mario party 8, i love it! it’s so fun i wished last night was friday night so i can stay up. regardless i was up til 1am playing…LOL i may get the game. even faith got up early (surprised!) to play the game this morning. i have always love th mario games with the exception of a few and this one’s no different.

back to movies, i was really surprised that we have not seen “thunderbolt” with jackie before. we’ve seen just about everyone of his movies with the exception of his recents like “the medallion” which we didn’t thought was worth watching.
i have to say jackie was serious in this movie. there are still his stunts and fightings but the tone was different in my opinion. even his fighting moves were not something i see alot in his other films. all in a good way. this film managed to be very entertaining and kept me on edge. i was wincing throughout the first half – seriouly “OUCH!” if you like “initial D” or “fast and furious” you’ll love this one. it’s got racing and the actions by sammo hung and cory yuen are icing on the cake. totally recommended!
branching off a bit here, but who will be going to see “rush hour 3″?? count me in! the “rush hour” series of jackie is one of my fav since he started acting here in the US. it’s hilarious and culturaly different. jackie and chris make a great team. ^^ i love their “i’ll slap you back to….” lines.
